xburo sponsor charity match in an effort to raise money for local girl
On Saturday players at Cambuslang Rugby Club supported coach Gavin Blackburn in his efforts to raise money for an East Kilbride girl with spina bifida.
The veteran rugby coach reached out to businesses like xburo to support his efforts to raise as much money as possible to allow Amber’s parents to make suitable modifications to their home to ensure it is a more accessible space, and we were delighted to help where we could.
The efforts are to help five-year-old Amber to access a wet-room and living space downstairs in her home following more than 20 operations, most recently undergoing an operation posterior vault distraction to relieve the pressure on her brain.
This was one of a number of challenges that Gavin has taken on including a 24-hour walking challenge which raised more than £3,000 with companies like xburo now coming in to support through sports sponsorship.
Director Michael Gribben said: “Gavin has been excellent in his leadership to bring companies and people on board to support a young girl and her family. Rugby creates a community ethos and we were keen to get involved in lending support when Gavin and John McLaughlin shared Amber’s story and her family’s journey. It takes a team to help people when there is a need and getting involved in some small way is worthwhile.”
