Boclair Academy

NEC3 Supervisor

Boclair Academy

“Our expertise in delivering NEC 3 Supervisory services allows us to support Doig+Smith in our collective aim of ensuring the build was completed ahead of time to allow the official handover to happen earlier and for testing to commence. We were delighted to be a part of the school’s new history and to return to see Boclair Academy thriving and operating as a first-class facility.”
Thomas Brady, Director of xburo

The Brief

East Dunbartonshire Council invested £20million in the build of a new secondary school, Boclair Academy, to provide a state-of-art learning environment for its 1,500 learners.

Boclair Academy is a new build secondary school providing a rich mix of interdisciplinary and subject-focused learning experiences.

As part of this, xburo’s role was to support Doig & Smith in the delivery of the NEC 3 supervisory services.

Our Expertise

Working in a truly collaborative manner with Doig & Smith and the main contractors, McLaughlin and Harvey and SPIE, the MEPH elements of the project were successfully signed off ahead of completion. This was an important consideration as pupils needed to continue their education following the academic break with as little interruption as possible. Follow up visits have confirmed the facility has been well received and is operating as required as a thriving education institution.

Benefits to the client
  • This project was handed over prior to the official handover date which allowed the school to prepare for its pupils and settle into the school ahead of time as part of the transition;
  • Expertise was delivered by senior staff including Chartered Engineer, Tom Brady, and Associate, Ian Menzies, with support from the whole team which included senior staff as well as new vibrant engineers in the initial stages of their careers;
  • Transition from phase 1 to phase 2 of the carpark works and demolition allowed the project to continue to stay on target;
  • Our expansive industry knowledge, due to our advisory position, meant we had the advantage of seeing a wide range of best practice which we bring to our clients.
