New Apprentices join our growing Xburo team

Following the success of our apprenticeship programme, Xburo has welcomed two new apprentices to our growing team.
Archie MacInnes and Noah Watson join Xburo as our new apprentices. From day one, the apprentices will be working on live projects and embedding themselves in our operations.
Gaining real experience while earning and studying, the apprentices will combine practical learning with formal qualifications. They will be supported to study at college, starting at Kelvin College to complete an HNC in Building Services, before progressing to Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) to complete a BEng (Hons).
Speaking to the new apprentices, both of whom have just finished high school, the pair were looking forward to what the future holds as they take their first steps into a career in engineering.
Archie, who joins from Cathkin High School, said: “The apprenticeship is very different from school, but it gives me the opportunity to earn while gaining my qualifications. I enjoyed physics and maths at school and chose engineering as it matched what I enjoy most, and I saw the opportunity for a career. It’s early days but when I look towards the future, I’m keen to get on site, visit other offices, and learn what everyone does in the industry, while I get qualified to allow me to pursue engineering as a career.”
Noah echoed Archie’s ambitions and said it would be good that the pair would be supporting each other, in particular as they would both be attending Kelvin College one day a week as part of the apprenticeship programme.
Noah, from Chryston High School, said: “A career in engineering is what I want and when this opportunity came, I wanted to be in a position where I was learning on the job from the very beginning. I am looking forward to the practical aspects of the job, meeting people, learning what they do, and seeing engineering in action. It’s the start of what I hope will be a career in engineering, and where one day I will be applying what I’ve learned to projects.”
Thomas Brady, co-founder and director of Xburo, who began his own career as an apprentice engineer, is a strong advocate for early-career pathways.
He said: “The apprenticeship programme was launched to give opportunities to enter the workplace at an early stage. Our aim is to support and assist Archie and Noah in their career development and to help make them industry-ready. There is a great need to bring more mechanical and electrical engineers into our industry. It’s crucial that M&E consultancies like Xburo provide opportunities for young people to enter the industry and thrive for the benefit of our company and the industry as a whole.”
Already, Xburo supports Josh McIvor, our apprentice engineer who joined our programme straight out of school as an apprentice and has progressed from Kelvin College to Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU). Our new apprentices will be fully supported by our team of expert engineers at Xburo.
Last month, Xburo announced its partnership with Chiltern Capital to accelerate expansion plans, alongside a recruitment drive to meet growing demand. Opportunities are available on our website in the careers page.
The firm, founded in 2018, now supports organisations across public healthcare, defence, education and commercial sectors to deliver MEPH Asset engineering, design and technical advisory.
The next opening for engineering apprentice intakes will be in January 2027.
